Patrick Bean joined the American Clean Skies Foundation (ACSF) in 2012 as an Energy Policy Advisor focusing on policy options for expanding the use of natural gas, renewable energy, and energy efficiency in the electric sector. Prior to joining ACSF, Patrick spent three years in various generation planning roles at Southern Company. While at Southern, Patrick led the development and communication of quantitative environmental policy analysis identifying trends, risks and opportunities for Southern's generation fleet. Additionally, he conducted economic evaluations to create long-term generation plans including which units to build, retire, fuel-switch, or retrofit with environmental controls.

Prior to joining Southern Company, Patrick received his Master's of Environmental Management in Energy and Environment at Duke University. While at Duke, Patrick worked at the Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions where he analyzed impacts of proposed greenhouse gas policies on fuel markets. Patrick received a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science and Policy, and a minor in Political Science from Marist College.
