Brian is an environmental scientist/engineer with 40 years experience. He is currently conducting tests in Florida on a radically new type of algae growth pond and turbulent water circulation system that he developed to improve algae-to-algal oil productivity for producing carbon-neutral biofuels.
Gallagher previously founded Limnetics Inc, an environmental R&D firm and testing aboratory that conducted ecological studies of water resources for industry and government including the National Park Service. Limnetics Inc. advised industries, electric utilities and oil companies on means to prevent environmental impacts from Lake Michigan operations and from oil-shale mining projects in Colorado. Limnetics Inc. was eventually acquired and Gallagher joined Harza Engineers (now Montgomery - Watson Harza) as Head of Environmental Sciences for all worlwide hydroelectric power and mineral and resource development projects. Gallagher was later appointed by the University of Wisconsin as a Senior Staff Scientist assigned to the US Department of Energy as Acting Manager of Underground Energy Storage Programs including compressed air energy storage, pumped-hydro energy storage, and aquifer thermal-energy storage. When a new administration terminated solar energy and conservation projects, Dr. Gallagher became an Adjunct Instructor at the Univ. of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and founded Ecotonics to focus on renewable biofuels as a long-term alternative energy.
Dr. Gallagher has a BS in Applied Mathematics and Physics; and MS in Water Resources Engineering, both from the University of Wisconsin-Milw; and a Doctorate in Environmental Sciences and Engineering from UCLA; and MBA in Finance from the Keller Graduate School of Management.
