Nancy is the founding Executive Director of the Sallan Foundation. She previously served as an environmental policy maker and advisor in New York City government where she successfully counseled the Comptroller to stop the sale of the City's water supply and formulated the scope of work for the National Academy of Sciences' benchmark NYC watershed study. Also responsible for City legislation, she authored the Community Right-to-Know Act and co-authored the Recycling Law. She taught Sociology and Political Science at the university level before entering City government. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology and a B.A. in English Literature from New York University.
