Description (excerpt):

On November 14, 2013, roughly 40 participants from the federal government, industry, and environmental community gathered at CSIS for a three-hour session to discuss two issues: (1) Why electric utilities are interested in small modular reactors (SMRs) and their potential domestic market; and (2) The potential role for the U.S. government—outside of the Department of Energy (DOE) SMR program—in helping develop the domestic and global market for SMRs. This report provides a brief summary of the discussion and offers some policy recommendations.

All statements and/or propositions in discussion prompts are meant exclusively to stimulate discussion and do not represent the views of OurEnergyPolicy.org, its Partners, Topic Directors or Experts, nor of any individual or organization.
