As the United States undergoes a clean energy transformation, technological limitations and urgency suggest that zero or very low-carbon fuels like hydrogen are needed to support industrial processes and heavy-duty transport, ensure grid reliability, and support good-paying jobs.

The Carolinas have the potential to support a new market that would build on the region’s broad industrial, logistics, and manufacturing capabilities and enhance economic development, job creation, and an already strong clean technology ecosystem—including a history of excellence in hydrogen research and development.

This workshop will bring diverse stakeholders together to focus on enabling economic opportunity while accelerating decarbonization in North Carolina and South Carolina by exploring the potential value, development pathways, and industrial coordination of a clean hydrogen hub in the region.
