Jackelin Trevino

Intern
Sierra Club

Areas of Expertise:

Jackelin Elizabeth Trevino was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley region of Texas. The region is tropical in climate and the landscape is full of palm trees, exotic birds, butterflies, and sunshine. As a young Biology major, Jackelin became aware of the factors which threaten the security and health of future generations such as atmospheric pollution, scarcity of clean water, and exposure to toxic chemicals. The ways in which these practices threaten the wildlife in her home motivated her to action. She made a commitment to protect the environment and health of all life on earth and to also teach people in her community how they are connected to and how they influence the world. A side effect of these efforts, which makes Jackelin smile often, is people taking steps to lead healthy, more sustainable lives on an individual level. Through her advocacy Jackelin worked with many organizations including the Sierra Club, National Wildlife Federation, Re-energize Texas, Focus the Nation, and the Energy Action Coalition. She is also very active with the Office for Sustainability at the University of Texas Pan American, where she currently majors in Communication Studies.
