David John Frenkil is an associate in the Environment, Energy & Natural Resources Group in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. His practice focuses on the representation of lenders, equity investors and developers in domestic and international energy projects. Prior to joining Sullivan & Worcester, Mr. Frenkil represented energy clients in the Los Angeles office of an Energy Project Finance practice at a large international law firm. During the spring prior to law school, he played professional baseball overseas as a left-handed pitcher and first-baseman.

Mr. Frenkil has been published on energy issues by Oxford, Bloomberg and energy trade journals in the U.S., E.U. and Brazil. He has been a guest lecturer on the energy industry at the Georgetown University McDonough School of Business, Tulane University and the George Washington University. As a law student, Mr. Frenkil worked for SunEdison and the Deputy General Counsel for Energy Policy at the U.S. Department of Energy.

Mr. Frenkil is on the Steering Committee of the Young Leader’s program at the Milken Institute, a nonprofit, nonpartisan think tank with a focus on empowering capital markets to solve social and economic challenges. He volunteers as a panelist for student venture competitions for LearnServe International, a non-profit organization that provides students with the skills of business leadership and innovative problem solving. He is also active in other philanthropic activities, including the National YoungArts Foundation and the American Cancer Society.
