Dr. Xiaoliang Cheng is currently a research fellow at Lawrence Berkeley National lab and Joint BioEnergy Institute (JBEI). His primary research and publications focus on developing and implementing mass spectrometry based high-throughput screening technology for biofuel development. He won the Novozymes Enzyme Assay Scientist award 2012 for his role in the development of a high through-put screening assay which is being used at JBEI to identify enzymes that facilitate the breakdown of cellulosic biomass and its synthesis into transportation fuels. Dr. Cheng is the recipient of the Marilyn and Richard K. Vitek fellowship in analytical chemistry 2009 and 2010. This award, sponsored by Marilyn and Richard K. Vitek research foundation, recognizes the contributions of an individual who has demonstrated exceptional technical advancement and innovation in the field of analytical chemistry.With articles published in high impactful journals, Dr.Cheng is author or co-author of a number of peer-reviewed scientific articles and gives scientific presentations on both national and international conferences. He also serves as editorial board member for journal of environmental and analytical toxicology and peer reviewers for seven peer-reviewed journals.
