Rich Cregar is an Instructor and department head for the Advanced Transportation Technologies Center at Wilson Community College in Wilson, N.C. and a GlaxoSmithKline Faculty Fellow at the Institute for Emerging Issues at N.C. State University.

He has served as co-director of the state-wide curriculum improvement project (CIP) for sustainable transportation conducted by the North Carolina Community College System and recently completed a two year project funded by the U.S. Dept. of Energy known as “The Clean Transportation Education Project” (CTEP).

Mr. Cregar has also written dozens of articles about renewable fuels, advanced drive systems and workforce development for Sustainable Transportation. His SAE paper on this topic (#06B-367) was presented at the 2006 World Congress.

In November, 2011 Mr. Cregar was selected by the White House as a “White House Champion of Change” in recognition of his work.

A past chair of the Triangle Clean Cities Coalition Stakeholder Board, he is an active member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the North American Council of Automotive Teachers (NACAT) and the Environmental Educators of North Carolina (EENC). He has completed both The Diesel Engine Technology Engineering Academy and The Hybrid/EV Engineering Academy of the Society of Automotive Engineers. He sits on the President’s Advisory Committee on Renewable Fuels and also consults on Biofuel production issues at Shaw University. Mr. Cregar also was a Consultant and Technical Trainer for Miles Electric Vehicles, LLC. of Santa Monica, CA.

Mr. Cregar also served for several years as the National Instructor and Research Associate at the National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium at West Virginia University. He also serves on the Johnston County Board of Adjustment.
