Jason Hayes is the Associate Director for the American Coal Council, an energy industry association that represents 170 member companies whose operations span the coal industry ~ from the hole in the ground to the plug in the wall. Jason also serves as Editor-in-Chief of American Coal magazine a widely read and respected energy industry periodical.

In his daily work, Jason manages the Association’s public communications, acts as a liaison to member and potential member companies, government, the media, and the public. He also administers the ACC web and social media presence, as well as the Association’s Tomorrow's Leadership Council program. Jason is also actively involved in the Association's Communications and Coal 2.0 Committees.

Prior to his work with the ACC, Jason provided consulting services to the Canadian resource industry, coauthored research on grizzly bear biology and national parks management for the Fraser Institute, worked as forester in Northern British Columbia, and as a backcountry ranger in Southern British Columbia's Provincial Parks.

Jason holds a Master of Environmental Design (Environmental Science) from the University of Calgary, a B.Sc. in Natural Resource Conservation from the University of British Columbia and a Technical Diploma in Renewable Resource Management from Selkirk College. He lives in the Phoenix, AZ area with his wife and children.
