Jason Burwen is the Policy & Advocacy Director for the Energy Storage Association. Previously he worked on energy innovation policy with the Bipartisan Policy Center in Washington DC. He also staffs the American Energy Innovation Council, a group of current and former CEOs from major innovation-led companies that advocate for greater public investments in energy innovation. Jason joined the Bipartisan Policy Center in September 2012 as a senior policy analyst with the Energy Project. Prior to joining BPC, Burwen worked as a senior analyst at the FSC Group, a statistical and economic consulting firm focused on demand response, rate design, and other behavioral approaches to demand-side management in electricity. Jason also worked previously as a regulatory analyst with the California Public Utilities Commission, examining renewable energy procurement policies and analyzing trends in renewable energy power purchase agreements.

Jason holds an M.P.P. from the Goldman School of Public Policy and an M.A. from the Energy and Resources Group, both at the University of California, Berkeley. His dissertation focused on factors affecting household energy technology adoption in developing countries, supported by observations from his fieldwork conducting a randomized-control trial of an improved cookstove project in Ghana. He earned his B.A. in psychology from Columbia University. He is originally from Mountain View, California.
