Dr. Heather Youngs is a senior fellow at the Energy Biosciences Institute. Her current role is to deeply understand the development of bioenergy in the context of energy access and security, climate change, and long-term economic, social, and environmental sustainability. To do this I synthesize information across the entire bioenergy knowledge space, including research within the Institute and beyond, regarding such topics as next-generation feedstock production, biochemical/chemical conversion processing, socio-economic and environmental impacts. In addition to a strategic role in the institute, Dr. Youngs has provided expert analysis to members of Congress, NGOs, governmental agencies, the UN Environment Programme, and UNESCO. She has also has joined the advisory board of the Carbon Mitigation Institute (CMI) at Princeton University and serves as the Executive Editor of the publication Bioenergy Connection.
