His recent work includes unconventional gas shales, oil shale, petroleum refining, clean-coal technology, and alternative and renewable energy resources, the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, and Defense installation and operations energy. Prior to joining CRS, he worked for the Navy Department as an analyst in defense energy supply, and at the Argonne National Laboratory as a project scientist in energy and environmental systems. He completed his graduate studies in petroleum geology and reservoir engineering at Ohio State University, and in public policy at Virginia Tech. He also served in the Navy Reserve as a Civil Engineer Corps officer, and graduated from the Navy War College.
