Asaf Nagler is a co-founder of SolarRetina, llc, a solar data analytics company that crowd-sources and analyzes real-time solar generation data to remove barriers to integrating large amounts of distributed solar onto the electric grid. Prior to SolarRetina, Mr. Nagler co-founded Enduring Energy, llc a strategic advisory firm specializing in helping investor-owned electric utilities, renewable generation asset owners, and clean energy technology companies apply for government funding, having successfully obtained over $100 million in Section 1603 and 48C Funding.
Previously, Mr. Nagler served as Staff Director and Senior Advisor to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Under Secretary. In this role, Mr. Nagler served as the top political and strategic advisor to the Under Secretary, coordinating with the White House, Congress and other Administrative Agencies. He advised and assisted the Under Secretary oversee the strategic planning, budgeting and coordination of the $10.5 billion Energy and Environment Programs (EERE, OE, NE, FE, EM), including an additional $37 billion in funding from the Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). While at the Dept. of Energy, Mr. Nagler played an integral role in designing and launching the Administration’s Energy Regional Innovation Cluster (E-RIC), which brings together the full research, innovation and commercialization pipeline in one place. Additionally, he oversaw the development of the Department’s first-ever Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Phase III Xlerator program, which focused on the final stages of technology commercialization. Mr. Nagler was also involved in the initial development of the DOE programs for the Administration’s Start-up America initiative.
Prior to joining the DOE, Mr. Nagler served as an attorney in the White House and as Alaska Research Director and Get Out the Vote Director on the 2008 Presidential Campaign. Mr. Nagler’s experience as a practicing attorney includes commercial and business transactions as well as helping start-up companies navigate key legal hurdles in establishing their businesses and setting them on a path for success.
