Gabriella C. Gonzalez (Ph.D., Sociology, Harvard University) is a senior sociologist at the RAND Corporation based in Pittsburgh, PA. Her work focuses on human capital development, school-to-work transitions, workforce development, and workplace dynamics, employing both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Dr. Gonzalez has over 15 years of experience in program evaluation, implementation analysis, case study analysis, designing and analyzing surveys, and in conducting and analyzing data from interviews and focus groups with key informants and industry leaders. She is currently co-leading a study of a public-private partnership, ShaleNET, that aims to support the semi-skilled workforce training needs in the energy and advanced manufacturing sector in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Texas sponsored by the National Science Foundation. She is also leading the implementation analysis of a newly developed career pathway program in New Orleans, designed to improve the employment and careers of underserved populations into the energy and advanced manufacturing sector in the region, sponsored by the New Orleans mayor's Workforce Investment Office and funded by the Department of Labor. Gonzalez recently completed a study sponsored by the National Energy Technology Laboratory on the alignment of education and training with workforce needs in the energy sector in West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Her 2008 co-authored book, Facing Human Capital Challenges of the 21st Century, analyzed the education and labor market reforms of four countries in the Middle East.
