Gary Garrett

Gary Garrett is a Senior Technical Analyst for the Southern States Energy Board, involved in energy and environmental policy issues in the southern states. Prior to beginning at SSEB in 2002, he held generation and resource planning positions at Oglethorpe Power for two years, after 27 years in resource planning with the Tennessee Valley Authority. He has previously participated on committees dealing with electric system reliability assessments and issues in both the Southeast Electric Reliability Corporation (SERC) and North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC). He serves on the board of the Southeast Energy Society and is a member of IEEE- Power Engineering Society.



Garrett serves on the board of Georgia Interfaith Power and Light (GIPL), and is also founding and past chair of the Environmental Sustainability Board of the city of Decatur, Georgia. He has a Master’s degree in Urban Policy Studies from Georgia State University, in addition to receiving Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington.
