Description (excerpt):

Biodiesel is a non-petroleum-based diesel fuel composed of fatty acid methyl ester molecules derived from vegetable oils, animal fats, or recycled greases. It is similar to conventional petroleum-based diesel fuel and can be used in compression-ignition (diesel) engines with little to no modification. Biodiesel also has some favorable properties compared to conventional diesel (no sulfur content, lower particulate matter and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, etc.).
