Job Posting: Communications Manager


OurEnergyPolicy (OEP) is seeking a communications manager with at least three years of experience to join its team in Washington, D.C. This person will be responsible for managing OEP’s day-to-day communications, including event promotion, digital communications, relationships with journalists, collaborating with partners, and outreach to federal, state, and local government offices.

  • Publish weekly e-newsletter, as well as other electronic and print communications. Manage social media schedules (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn) and create content in coordination with team members.
  • Prepare media alerts and other announcements that raise awareness for OEP and its accomplishments. Pitch journalists for OEP events and respond to media inquiries. Build and grow relationships with journalists.
  • Develop and execute strategy to raise awareness of OEP’s programs among local, state, and federal government officials and staff.
  • Perform strategic outreach to House and Senate staff on Capitol Hill, partner organizations, OEP’s professional community, and other thought leaders in the energy space. Congressional relations include holding meetings with member and committee energy staff to increase awareness of OEP and invite members to participate in OEP events.
  • Copy edit team materials, help draft content for whitepapers, and draft and edit other communications and organizational materials.
  • Assist the team with managing the website, as necessary.
  • Work as part of a team to support and advance the OEP mission, and assist staff with other related tasks as needed


  • BA degree, preferably in communications, marketing, or political science
  • Minimum three years of communications experience, preferably on Capitol Hill or with a nonprofit
  • Background with Cision, Bloomberg Government, Constant Contact, Hootsuite, WordPress or other similar software is helpful
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Publisher, Adobe Suite, or other similar software preferred
  • Comfort working on a small team in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Willingness to travel on occasion for organizational events outside of Washington, D.C.



This is a full-time W-2 position. Salary is commensurate with experience. Flexible time off with opportunities to work remotely.
