It is well established that the Arctic is warming at an alarming rate and, as a result, the region has and will continue to experience dramatic changes, including: opportunities and challenges to Arctic and Indigenous communities; an increase in Arctic Ocean shipping activities; expanded opportunities for resource development; and the potential for conflict in what has been a region with low military tensions.
