Advancing Clean/Green Ammonia for Agriculture and Shipping in California

California’s agricultural sector produces over a third of the US’s food supply and relies on imported ammonia for fertilizer. As California’s agricultural sector faces ammonia price volatility coupled with growing pressure to decarbonize and manage organic waste, locally produced green/clean ammonia is emerging as a powerful alternative to fossil-derived imports, and as a new clean fuel. Produced using renewable electricity, and increasingly via hydrogen made from organic waste, green/clean ammonia offers a scalable, low-emissions alternative to imported fossil-derived ammonia, while supporting soil health, food system resilience, and circular economy models.

This GHC-hosted webinar features TalusAg’s commercial deployment of North America’s first modular green ammonia production facility with Landus in Iowa. It also brings together perspectives from existing ammonia distributors, shipping leaders, policy experts, and safety specialists to explore green ammonia’s important role in advancing clean shipping, and California’s unique opportunity to lead in this space.
