BU Institute for Global Sustainability – Rebuilding Ukraine: Energy Infrastructure and Energy Security

As Russia’s ongoing war against Ukraine nears its one-year anniversary in February, Ukraine’s National Recovery Plan has set its sights on building back better. Much has been damaged or destroyed that is in desperate need of reconstruction, including energy infrastructure. Massive investments estimated at over $200 billion are required to finance a new approach to energy production, consumption, and security in the country.

Drawing on a recently published Boston University Institute for Global Sustainability (IGS) whitepaper, this webinar will synthesize numerous reports, expert opinions, and commentaries written on Ukraine’s approaches to reconstruction of energy infrastructure. From these insights come suggested opportunities for Ukraine’s consideration as it further researches and hones its plans for a recovery with more advanced and sustainable technologies.

Presented by Darrick Evensen, IGS Senior Research Scientist and co-author of Energy Security, Climate Change, and the Future of Ukraine Reconstruction.
