Center for Climate and Energy Solutions – Scaling Carbon Dioxide Removal: Limitations and Potential
The recent Sixth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel of Climate Change (IPCC) has underscored the urgency to start working on expanding our carbon sinks to avoid the most drastic effects of climate change. All IPCC mitigation pathways that limit global warming to 1.5 degrees C by the end of the century with no or limited overshoot project the use of carbon dioxide removal (CDR) solutions. However, the current pace of development of CDR solutions is still far behind the required level to meet global climate goals.
In this webinar, experts will discuss the potential role of nature-based and technological CDR solutions in future comprehensive decarbonization strategies, overcoming barriers for large-scale deployment of CDR, and how environmental justice can be embedded in CDR frameworks.
