EV Load Forecasting to Support Vehicle-Grid Integration
Join experts from Electric Power Engineers, ESIG, Telos Energy, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and the U.S. Department of Energy as they share new study findings and resources for EV load forecasting to support vehicle-grid integration.
The webinar will cover:
• A recent ESIG report funded by DOE, Charging Ahead: Grid Planning for Vehicle Electrification, which explores the challenges of grid planning for electric vehicles and describes roles for existing processes, customer-collaborative processes, and proactive multi-stakeholder processes in enabling vehicle electrification.
• A new DOE initiative led by ESIG to collectively develop with stakeholders an EV load forecasting guide—a step-by-step guide for utilities and regulators to understand the data needs, methodologies, uncertainties, and approaches for forecasting EV charging loads.
• Preliminary findings from an NREL study categorizing and quantifying sources of uncertainty related to EV charging loads including uncertainty in vehicle ownership and EV adoption, EV usage and travel behavior, EV energy intensity, and charging technology and behavior.
