Piloting and Scaling Clean Energy Projects: What Utilities are Learning

Realizing the benefits of bringing utilities together to share their experiences, the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Electricity (OE) launched Voices of Experience to collect the experiences, insights, and lessons learned of utility representatives implementing emerging technology. Utility staff share their industry knowledge to help all utilities plan for operational challenges in this changing industry. The latest installment of its Voices of Experience initiative is on “Decarbonization Strategies and Grid Planning.” No universal blueprint exists to reduce carbon in energy systems. A utility must tailor its carbon reduction plan to align with its capabilities, market, and location.

Utilities are piloting more clean energy technologies than ever before. Some are saying there are too many pilots, and the industry needs to leverage this knowledge now to scale new resources and technology faster to reach decarbonization goals.

This workshop will offer a platform for interactive, utility-led group discussions to capture and share what utilities are learning as they pilot and scale clean energy technology. The workshop is open to all utility personnel at no charge and is a DOE Voices of Experience initiative.
