Promoting Solar Deployment Through Soft Cost Reduction

Local governments have tremendous influence over the prospects for solar energy growth. Unnecessary paperwork, red tape, and other burdensome requirements increase costs and discourage solar companies from moving to the area. By streamlining these requirements and taking other steps to encourage solar development, communities become “open for solar business.”SolSmart a national U.S Department of Energy funded program works with local governments to reduce solar soft costs and increase solar deployment across the country. Learn about the impacts of SolSmart highlighted in a recent third party evaluation. The evaluation identified that “SolSmart-designated communities increased their solar capacity by 69 kW per month on average — a 67% increase. The number of installations increased by 62%, or 3 systems per month on average.” This webinar will also discuss how Solar APP and SolSmart are aligned. The session will feature how installers can benefit from working in SolSmart designated communities.
