A storm is brewing concerning the consideration of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors in investment decisions by asset managers and asset owners. Proponents of considering ESG factors maintain it is prudent behavior, in line with investment managers’ fiduciary responsibilities. Opponents hold that “ESG investing” is part of a radical left campaign to impose a value-destructive climate agenda.
