Resources for the Future – The Future of Carbon Pricing: Policy in Action
2021 was an eventful year for carbon pricing around the world. In Europe, the price of allowances in the EU Emissions Trading System continued to set records throughout 2021. At the federal level in the United States, a group of senators pushed, but ultimately failed, to get carbon pricing into a senate reconciliation bill. And at the state level, some states—like Washington, which officially passed a cap-and-trade program—made progress, while other efforts stalled out.
Join Resources for the Future (RFF) on Thursday, March 10, for a review of trends and trajectories in carbon pricing. In this year’s RFF live event, “The Future of Carbon Pricing: Policy in Action,” a panel of experts will examine the state of carbon pricing around the world today and the prospect for future development and implementation of carbon pricing policies.
Speakers:
• Valentina Bosetti, RFF-CMCC European Institute on Economics and the Environment
• Pam Kiely, Environmental Defense Fund
• Joseph Majkut, Center for Strategic and International Studies
• Marc Hafstead, Resources for the Future (moderator)
