RFF – US Climate Policy: The Road Ahead
Over the past year, the United States has passed several laws that will significantly reduce US greenhouse gas emissions, from the Inflation Reduction Act, to the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and CHIPS and Science Act. The Inflation Reduction Act in particular marks the largest investment in climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts in US history. These new laws, characterized mainly by a “carrots” approach to climate policy, are designed to provide significant public funding and subsidies to encourage clean energy development and deployment, and build new demand for low-carbon products and jobs. What lies ahead for implementation of these historic climate policy packages, what are the international implications, and what additional actions will be needed to meet US decarbonization goals?
Join Resources for the Future (RFF) on Monday, November 14, as we explore the key details of these new laws and the road ahead for US climate action. Our expert panel includes leading voices from NGOs, the US federal government, business, and more.
