Saft – Smaller, Smarter, Shorter: How to reduce space requirements and installation time of large battery energy storage systems

This webinar will discuss technical solutions to optimizing the installation of large-scale Li-ion energy storage systems. Based on real-world examples, the audience will get insights into -eventually contradicting- constraints and requirements conditioning fast implementation of cost-optimized, safe, low maintenance ESS made of containerized batteries and power conversion systems. We will discuss the challenges and pitfalls encountered during project planning, and show innovative approaches to reduce the installation space while respecting safety requirements, applicable NFPA standards and maintenance imperatives. Having installed more than 200 systems worldwide over the past 10 years, Saft experts will explain conditions for fast site installation, minimum site works and simple commissioning procedures, thus de-risking project plannings.

The webinar will give insights in case studies, looking at practical examples of ESS installations in the 50 – 100 MWh range based on Saft’s new Intensium-Shift product, connected to state-of-the art power conversion equipment, in typical standalone or PV-coupled installations. It will look at:

  • – Design features and system architectures of ESS systems that enable high density installations while ensuring highest levels of safety, i.e. prevent fire propagation and enable effective operation of firefighters
  • – Solutions to minimize site works
  • – Best practices and processes that enable fast site installation
