Uday Varadarajan, Precourt Energy Scholar and Senior Principal at RMI, provides an overview of the real political economy and equity barriers to rapidly mitigating US energy carbon emissions that led to the structuring of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), discuss how it addresses those barriers reasonably comprehensively with a focus on the electricity sector, and take stock of its implementation challenges and successes so far.
