Utility Dive – Requirements for Federal EV Charging Funding Come into Focus
Federal funding to support the public EV charging buildout throughout the U.S. is fundamental in America’s transition to electric transportation. This is especially true since automakers sold almost double the amount of EVs from 2021 to 2022.
Although funding is available, it’s being distributed through state governments, and utility companies have plenty of questions about the rollout. One of the major objectives of the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Program is the creation of a nationwide network of 500,000 EV chargers by 2030. The funding represents a significant investment, but it’s also limited.
