Description (excerpt):
The energy economy is transforming from high carbon power generation to low- and no-carbon generation sources, with an increasing amount of decentralized power generation connected to the distribution grid. With open markets, aggregators, decarbonization, and consumers who both consume and produce power, it’s transmission and distribution utilities that represent the glue connecting it all together. They both must take on these transformations while keeping the lights on—a difficult ask when done in an analog manner.
In the following chapters, we examine the challenges, trends, and solutions involved with changing the power grid to meet these demands today and well into the future.
