Description (excerpt):

The ALEC Energy Affordability Report examines key factors influencing electricity prices, including how energy is generated, delivered, and regulated. The report ranks states the 50 states based on the weighted average price of electricity across the residential, commercial, industrial, and transportation sectors, measured in cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh). It also compares pricing across states with and without restrictive energy policies such as Renewable Portfolio Standards, Cap-and-Trade programs like the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, and State-Mandated Net Metering.

The analysis underscores the direct link between high energy costs and excessive government intervention, revealing how burdensome policies are driving up prices for hardworking Americans. With electricity demand expected to continue rising, states must support pro-growth policies that leverage our abundant natural resources to power today’s businesses and the economy of the future.
