 A number of countries have implemented policies to reduce carbon emissions in carbon-intensive sectors. These sectors tend to be energy-intensive and trade sensitive. Many countries have implemented carbon pricing, usually in the form of a cap-and-trade system for emissions. The European Union, for example, has had an emissions trading system (ETS) since 2005.
