Description (excerpt):

As the risks and damage from hurricanes, wildfires and other extreme weather events continue to grow, U.S. utilities are investing billions to enhance grid resiliency.

These disasters have also prompted moves to expedite power line undergrounding in some areas.

Electric utilities, grid operators and others are exploring additional steps, like increased coordination between the electric and gas sectors and the application of artificial intelligence to grid management.

These challenges, along with industry, policymaker and other responses to them, are explored in depth in the stories.
