In 2023, the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) introduced the Emissions Management Tool (EMT) to help RBA member companies streamline the collection of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions data from their supply chains. The EMT enables respondents to report on critical emissions data, including energy and fuel consumption, renewable energy use, and emissions reduction efforts. The EMT includes questions at both the corporate and facility levels. Data from the EMT is intended to inform RBA members’ Scope 3 calculations, increasing visibility into their supply chain emissions and making it faster and easier to report GHG emissions data to customers and external entities like the CDP and regulatory agencies.
RBA members nominate their suppliers to use the EMT, and each respondent only needs to respond to the survey once, regardless of the number of customer requests, which minimizes survey fatigue and accelerates the reporting process. The EMT has three options for survey completion: estimate, calculate, and report; this approach ensures that respondents from a variety of maturity levels can utilize the tool.
This report presents key data from the 2023 EMT survey alongside a detailed breakdown of the 2024 EMT survey results. The 2023 EMT survey reflected emissions data for the 2022 reporting year, and the 2024 EMT survey reflected emissions data from the 2023 reporting year.
