Description (excerpt):

This report presents a Clean Energy Future plan for the United States to reduce greenhouse gas [GHG] emissions 80 percent by 2050 – while adding half a million jobs and saving Americans billions of dollars on their electrical, heating, and transportation costs.

Americans have often been told that saving the climate will reduce employment and bust the budget. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) “80×50” target for GHG reduction is often portrayed as a threat to American workers’ jobs and the U.S. economy. And although President Obama has endorsed the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions 80 percent by 2050, even the most promising proposals in his Clean Power Plan do not approach this target.
