Description (excerpt):

It goes without saying that information and communication technologies (ICT) are at the heart of the digital economies and play an increasingly important part of all of our personal and professional lives.Their impact spans virtually all industrial sectors, from agriculture, transportation, construction to education and healthcare. Ensuring a sustainable growth, both from an environmental and economic perspective, is vitally important and one of the key challenges for our industry. It is with this goal in mind that the GreenTouch consortium [1] was founded in 2010 with the incredibly ambitious mission to
improve the energy efficiency of communication networks by a factor 1000x compared to 2010. It was also a stated objective to provide, by 2015, a roadmap of architectures, specifications and solutions and to demonstrate key technologies to accomplish this goal. A moon shot objective for the research community!
