Sarah E. Hunt is general counsel and an energy policy analyst at the Niskanen Center. Her policy work focuses on climate change, the carbon tax, and market-based solutions to environmental challenges. Prior to joining the Niskanen Center, Sarah was Manager, State Issues and Ethics Officer at the government affairs consulting firm Stateside Associates. Ms. Hunt formerly practiced political law and non-profit management as an attorney with a boutique law firm in Oregon. She is the co-author of Oregon’s Ballot Measure 73, which was passed by public referendum in 2010. She began her career in public policy working as legislative staff in the New Mexico and Oregon legislatures.

She is a graduate of the University of New Mexico, the Willamette University College of Law, and the Georgetown University Law Center, where she received an LLM in International Environmental Law. Sarah is currently pursuing an MPS in Global Advocacy, with an emphasis on energy issues, at the George Washington University Graduate School of Political Management.
