GHC – HyBuild™ LA Phase 2 Report-Out: Advancing the California Hydrogen Hub Vision
HyBuild™ Los Angeles is the GHC’s inaugural initiative to create the first scaled ecosystem for green hydrogen (GH2) in North America, targeting ~$2.00/kg delivered GH2 in the LA Basin.
Since its unveiling in 2021, HyBuild LA has made considerable strides in advancing both its educational and market development work scopes in support of this mission. Outputs from Phase 1 of HyBuild LA included a high-level system plan, estimated costs (capital expenditure of the envisioned system and levelized cost of hydrogen), preliminary demand scenarios, policy recommendations, and sample contract structures and term sheets.
This webinar will unveil findings from Phase 2 activities, which include a detailed dive into GH2 offtake and related infrastructure for mobility applications (e.g., maritime shipping, aviation, material handling, and heavy-duty trucking). Phase 2 also tackled a first-of-its-kind study into potential water use, sources, and infrastructure needed to support a GH2 ecosystem, focusing on alternative (recycled or repurposed) sources of water. Most importantly, Phase 2 quantified some of the significant community benefits — including air quality, public health, and job creation — possible from the HyBuild LA vision.
